As President-elect Donald J. Trump considers potential appointees for his cabinet, the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) offers data on past presidential administrations to show where and when women have been appointed.
President Bill Clinton, in his second term, and President Barack Obama, also in his second term, appointed the most women to cabinet or cabinet-level positions: 41 percent for Clinton and 35 percent for Obama, according to CAWP, a unit of the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. George W. Bush set the standard among GOP presidents in his second term, when 24 percent of his cabinet/cabinet level positions were filled by women.
