Two women serving in the U.S. House, both Democrats, are running for reelection: Representative Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) and Representative Jahana Hayes (CT-5). Hayes has raised $465,697 and DeLauro $384,420. The average amount raised by the men seeking reelection is slightly higher than the average for women ($496,403 compared with $425,058). Of the candidates running as challengers, men have raised a higher average amount ($44,687) than women ($28,238). Republican Chris Shea (CT-5) has raised the most with $161,320.

Analyzing small contributions, 26% of funds raised by Representative Hayes have come from small contributions compared with 13% for Representative DeLauro.
