Key Stat(s)

There is no U.S. Senate race in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania will elect 17 members to its U.S. House delegation.

Four women U.S. House incumbents, all Democrats, are running for reelection in Pennsylvania: Madeleine Dean (PA-4), Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-5), Chrissy Houlahan (PA-6), and Summer Lee (PA-12). The average raised by these Democratic women seeking reelection is lower than the average raised by the Democratic men seeking reelection to the U.S. House. Lee has raised the largest share of her funds from small contributions of the women seeking reelection with 33%. No Republican women serve in the Pennsylvania congressional delegation.

According to The Cook Political Report, three seats are competitive: PA-7, PA-8, and PA-10. Janelle Stelson (PA-10), a Democratic woman challenging Republican Representative Scott Perry, has raised the highest amount with nearly $3.3M; 22% of Stelson’s funds take the form of small contributions. Perry has raised over $2.3M. In PA-7, Republican Representative Ryan Mackenzie has raised over $1.2M. The money chase on the Democratic side for PA-7 is led by Ryan Crosswell; he has raised over $1.5M.

In PA-8, Democrat Paige Cognetti has raised over $2.2M compared with over $1.5M for Representative Rob Bresnahan (R). Only 15% of Cognetti’s funds are from small contributions whereas Bresnahan’s proportion of small contributions is double that of Cognetti.

Many candidates are competing in PA-3, which is an open seat considered to be “Solidly Democratic” by The Cook Political Report. Campaign finance data are available for two Democratic women and five Democratic men for this seat. The money chase is led by Sharif Street (D); he has raised $805,196.

Democratic women running as challengers in Pennsylvania have a higher average total raised than Democratic men. Meanwhile, Democratic men running as challengers have a higher average proportion of funds from self-financing than Democratic women. Campaign finance data was not available for the two Republican women running as challengers.
