Gail Gordon

Commissioner, New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority

In 2003, Gail Gordon was confirmed as the only woman on the NJ Sports & Exposition Authority (remedied in 2004!). The Sports Authority is the landlord and oversight body for all stadiums in the Meadowlands complex and has been charged with a primary role in the 8 games and finals recently awarded to NY/NJ for the 2026 Soccer WORLD CUP. She chairs the Construction Committee.

Commissioner Gordon, a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University, began her career working for PA Governor and US Attorney General Dick Thornburgh, while working for Thornburgh she was detailed to the Reagan-Bush White House. An attorney, Gordon has held a variety of high-profile positions in marketing, advocacy and fundraising both in the profit and non-profit worlds.

She is proud of her accomplishments as co-founder of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at the University of Miami (where she attended law school) and later helped hockey superstar Maria Lemieux establish his foundation to fight cancer.

Since moving to NJ to marry Senator Bob Gordon (they remain a high profile bi-partisan couple!), Gordon was a member of Chris Christie's Finance Committee, head of one of his transition teams, and served for 8 years as Chair of the NJ Hall of Fame. Governor Murphy named her to the Complete County Commission founded to ensure an accurate US census.

As an aside, Gordon, in 2021, was part of the HBO team nominated for an Emmy for the HBO Documentary "The Many Lives of Nick Buoniconti" detailing the genesis of the Miami Project.

She is Trustee of Hackensack Meridian Health, and a Board member of CASA, Community Options, Felician University, and Paterson Habitat for Humanity.
