Using interviews with Black women state legislators in Maryland and Louisiana, the authors examine how identity-based caucuses that champion a single vantage point – either race or gender – (Black caucuses, women’s caucuses) affect the legislative behavior and experience of Black women. 

The final report of the Women, Money, & Politics Watch 2024 project analyzes campaign contributions by individuals to major party candidates, both women and men, who ran at the congressional and state level. Analyses were conducted by candidate gender, party, chamber, and seat status, as well as women’s race/ethnicity.
