Laura Matos
Laura Matos is a seasoned professional with an extensive career in politics, government, public affairs, and strategic communications. She maintains an in-depth understanding of government processes and their intersections with the private sector, along with the importance of public education and advocacy efforts in affecting policy change.
Laura was most recently the New Jersey General Manager and Managing Director at a nationally ranked public affairs consulting firm. During her decade-long tenure at the firm, she developed and managed award-winning campaigns across all the firm’s practice areas with focus on behavior change, advocacy, coalitions management, and public education. This includes strategic campaigns to further the goals of labor, public and private sector clients.
Notably, while at Kivvit, Laura was the chief architect of the State of New Jersey’s 2021 multi-million-dollar statewide campaign to promote COVID-19 vaccine awareness and health. This campaign has received multiple industry honors for tactics including but not limited to campaign research, campaign creative, data and analytics, TV, radio and overall campaign strategy and execution, including two Emmy Award nominations and one Emmy win; “Best In Show” and “Superior Achievement in Research and Planning” at the 2022 SABRE Awards; ten REED awards spanning from “Best Public Affairs Campaign” to “Most Daring and Successful Tactic;” and was named the #3 Top Global Public Affairs Campaign by the Global SABRE Awards.
Ms. Matos worked in the New Jersey Governor’s Office for eight years for Governors McGreevey, Codey, and Corzine, working in various roles with oversight of a vast array of public policy issues across the Executive Branch. Laura also served as director of business development and communications at a top New Jersey law firm.
Laura is consistently named on New Jersey Globe’s annual Power List and InsiderNJ’s annual “Insider 100” and was recently included on ROI-NJ’s Influencers 2022 Top 40 Women in Business and 2021 Power List.
Laura is the chair of the New Jersey Pinelands Commission and served on the 2017 Transportation and Infrastructure Transition Advisory Committee, Governor Phil Murphy’s Restart and Recovery Advisory Council, the New Jersey Complete Count Commission and most recently as a Democratic Member of the New Jersey Legislative Apportionment Commission.
Laura serves on the Board of Latina Civic Action and as President of the Board of Latina Civic PAC, as well as on the Advisory Board of the Ritesh Shah Charitable Pharmacy. She previously served as President of LUPEPAC and on the board of PlanSmartNJ.
