Organizations for Women's Political Empowerment

Running Start is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to educating and inspiring young women to participate in politics and run for office. The organization educates young women about the importance of politics in their lives and gives them the skills they need to become political leaders through a series of programs, including opportunities for experiential learning and access to political and leadership trainings. Programs target women from high school to their late twenties.

NOW chapters focus on six priority issues including reproductive rights, ending sex discrimination/constitutional equality, promoting diversity and ending racism, economic justice, stopping violence against women, and LGBTQIA rights. 

WPLI's goal is to create a progressive training and mentorship network to help transfer practical policy skills and experience from current women leaders to future women leaders.

The Women's Pipeline for Change is building a sustainable infrastructure to support progressive women of color as they enter, navigate and move up the pipeline of political leadership. 

Founded in 2000, the Women & Politics Institute works to close the gender gap in political leadership by providing young women with academic training that encourages them to become involved in the political process; facilitating faculty and student research to enhance our understanding of the challenges women face in the political arena; and offering Graduate and Undergraduate Certificates in Women, Policy, and Political Leadership.

Through affiliate chapters in nearly every state, the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) promotes the principles, objectives and policies of the Republican Party; elects Republican candidates; informs the public through political education and activity; and increases the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government. In working toward these objectives, the NFRW concentrates its efforts in the areas of educating, communicating, recruiting, campaigning, fundraising, training and legislative action.

Through affiliate chapters in nearly every state, the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) promotes the principles, objectives and policies of the Republican Party; elects Republican candidates; informs the public through political education and activity; and increases the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government. The National Federation of Democratic Women (NFDW) supports the inclusion of women's voices in the Democratic Party. NFDW chapters promote Democratic Party goals and candidates and works to unite women party members behind them. 

The National Women's Political Caucus of Washington trains and educates women running for office at all levels in Washington.
