Women's Political Power Map

131 & Counting aims to support the growing number of women lawmakers and their staff by bringing together public policy professionals and female leaders to ensure women are an essential part of our democracy.

Women make up over 50% of the state’s general population, but a mere 16% of Michigan municipal managers are women. Through the 16/50 Project, the Michigan Municipal League is working to address these issues and move the needle upward on the number of women serving at the most executive level of government

The AAUW of Alabama advances equity for women and girls throughadvocacy, education, and research.  AAUW of Alabama has local chapters throughout the state and sponsors Ready to Run Alabama, a non-partisan political training to encourage women to run for government leadership positions.

The Alabama Federation of Democratic Women unites Alabama women to advance the Democratic ideals of opportunity for all, responsibility from all and community of all by working to elect qualified candidates who share the Federation's vision of a responsible and accountable government.

Through affiliate chapters in nearly every state, the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) promotes the principles, objectives and policies of the Republican Party and elects Republican candidates.

Alaska Women for Political Action (AWPA) is a multi-partisan, multi-cultural grassroots organization  dedicated to increasing women's participation in the political arena and creating a political power base designed to achieve equality for women. The AWPA provides support to women candidates running for all levels of office regardless of political affiliation.

The All In Together Campaign (AIT) is a non-partisan women’s organization committed to delivering cross-sector, innovative solutions to advance the progress of women’s political, civic and professional leadership in the United States. 

AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. AAUW of Oregon promotes advocacy, takes action to empower women and girls, and connects the Association with branch members.

The National Federation of Democratic Women (NFDW) supports the inclusion of women's voices in the Democratic Party.  NFDW chapters promote Democratic Party goals and candidates and works to unite women party members behind them. 

The AzFRW works to empower women in the political process and provide a forum for women to serve as leaders in the political, government, and civic arenas. AzFRW has 28 clubs throughout Arizona.

The Arizona National Organization for Women (AZNOW) works to advance the equal status of women and girls in all aspects of their lives.

The National Federation of Democratic Women (NFDW) supports the inclusion of women's voices in the Democratic Party. NFDW chapters promote Democratic Party goals and candidates and works to unite women party members behind them. 

Founded in 1948 and affiliated with the NFRW in 1955, the Arkansas Federation of Republican Women has sponsored campaign management schools and training for poll watchers and workers. AFRW's goals are to grow the grassroots membership, to continue to bring women into Republican politics, to encourage them to run for office, and to make Arkansas a totally red state from the quorum court to the Governor's Mansion and the White House.

The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) is dedicated to ensuring the participation and success of Asian Pacific Americans in government at the national, state, and local levels. Founded in 1994, APAICS promotes, supports, and conducts non-partisan education and informational activities, research, and programs designed to effectively enhance and increase the participation of the Asian Pacific Islander American community in the democratic process. APIACS offers a leadership program for elected officials, internships, and 3 fellowship opportunities.

The mission of Black Girls Vote is to inspire women of color to use the political process to improve the quality of life for their families and the collective community. Black Girls Vote engages, educates, and empowers women to activate their voice by utilizing their vote.

Founded in 1968, Black Women Organized for Political Actions primary goal is to activate, motivate, promote, support, and educate African-American women about the political process, encourage involvement, and to affirm commitment to, and solving of, those problems affecting the African-American community. Through its statewide chapters in seven states, including California, BWOPA works to articulate collective positions on issues affecting African Americans while providing leadership, training and mentoring to engage members in the political process.

The California Federation of Republican Women, a chapter of the National Federation of Republican Women, promotes an informed public through education and activity, works to increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government, promotes knowledge of the principles and policies of the Republican Party, encourages active citizenship, and coordinates with the California Republican Party to support Republican candidates.

NOW chapters focus on six priority issues including reproductive rights, ending sex discrimination/constitutional equality, promoting diversity and ending racism, economic justice, stopping violence against women, and LGBTQIA rights. 

The mission of California Women 4 Women is to increase the awareness of women in the political process and support women for election to public office.
