Leadership Trainings (women and men)

The State Chamber's Leadership Nebraska

Created in 2005, Leadership Nebraska works to develop and motivate a cross-section of leaders who will use their talents and abilities to lead within the state of Nebraska.  Approximately 30 leaders are selected annually to participate in six, two-day educational sessions from February through September.  Each of the educational sessions is conducted in a different community and addresses key subjects and critical issues facing Nebraska

The Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series

The Stanley K. Lacey Executive Leadership Series is an annual Indianapolis-based leadership program for young professionals seeking to learn about the issues facing the Indianapolis community from business and civic leaders.  Twenty-five selected applicants participate in once-monthly sessions covering topics like education, government, health and human services, the justice system, diversity, quality of life, and economic development.  Program graduates go on to lead in the community's public and private sectors.

The New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute

The New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute promotes regionalism and educates current and emerging leaders on community issues. Selected applicants participate in a nine-month educational program where statewide issues are presented through lectures, on-site visits, readings, discussion groups, simulations, and other leadership development activities. The Institute encourages area leaders to become actively involved in promoting positive change for the New Orleans region.

The LEADERship

Founded in 1983, the Leadership Program of Baltimore is an annual leadership development program for 50 individuals selected from businesses, non-profits and government. The annual program includes seminars, experimental activities, weekend retreats and meetings with some of the regions most influential leaders. Program participants are educated about the community in preparation for taking leadership roles in the public and private sectors.

The Centurions Leadership Program

The Centurions Leadership Program of The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is a two-year program providing education and training to about 75 area members who represent corporations, government agencies, not-for profit organizations, and area universities. Through seminars, activities, and retreats, Centurion members learn about issues of the Kansas City Metro area and become engaged in community projects and civic leadership.  

South Dakota Agriculture and Rural Leadership, Inc. (SDARL)

South Dakota Agriculture and Rural Leadership, Inc., (SDARL), is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to identifying and developing leadership for agriculture and rural communities to benefit the state as a whole. Thirty individuals are selected annually to attend 11 seminars over an 18-month period. Nine of the seminars are 3-4 day in-state seminars held at various locations throughout South Dakota in the first 16 months of the program. The National Seminar is a week-long study/travel seminar to Washington, DC in February of the first year.

Snelling Center Vermont Leadership Institute

Created by the Snelling Center for Government in 1995, the Vermont Leadership Institute (VLI) is a leadership development program designed to engage civic leaders and educate participants about issues, opportunities, and challenges facing Vermont. The 10-month program includes 18 seminar days over 8 overnight sessions, each held in a different region of the state. Participants selected from Vermont's private, public, and non-profit sectors gain the self-awareness, knowledge and networks needed in order to be effective leaders in their organizations, their communities, and Vermont.

Scottsdale Leadership

Founded in 1987, Scottsdale Leadership offers a core nine-month community leadership development program.  Forty participants are selected each year to learn about the issues facing Scottsdale, develop the leadership skills needed to make an impact, and build a network of resources to help them effect change.  Programs sessions occur one day every other week, ranging from education presentations and field trips to participation in class or community projects.

Rural Leadership North Dakota

Rural Leadership North Dakota (RLND) is a two-year interactive study and travel program dedicated to producing graduates with the vision and commitment to lead themselves, their organizations and communities into the future. This program emphasizes the development of skills such as working with people, managing projects, speaking in public, thinking creatively and understanding ag and rural policies. Participants attend eight in-state seminars, a Canada seminar and one national seminar in Washington DC over the two-year period.

Political Leaders Program

The Sorensen Institute's flagship Political Leaders Program (PLP) is a leadership development program for Virginia men and women of all ages who are involved in their commmunities and interested in becoming more active in public service and the political process, whether as community leaders or as elected officials. Approximately 35 participants are selected each year in a competitive process to participate in 10 monthly meetings (from March to December) in various locations across Virginia.
