Leadership Trainings for Women

NEW Leadership® Maine

NEW Leadership® Maine is a six-day, non-partisan residential training program provided at no cost to undergraduate college women throughout the state of Maine. The program educates participants about politics and policy making and inspires them to get involved in the political process. During the six-day program selected students meet with women in a variety of roles in the public sphere, learn about women's political participation, explore ideas about leadership and politics, and participate in hands-on skills building exercises.

Leadership Texas

Founded in 1983, Leadership Texas, a program of the Foundation for Womens Resources, identifies and develops Texas' women leaders by providing them with essential information, an awareness of ongoing changes, sharpened skills, and an enduring network of women from diverse backgrounds. Women recognized as leaders throughout the state are chosen to participate in a year-long program structured around five two-and-one-half-day sessions exploring a wide range of issues including: science and technology, education, business, government, the environment and the economy.

Leadership Illinois

Established in 1988, Leadership Illinois is a professional network of women leaders from throughout the state. Class members participate in three multi-day conferences throughout the year-long program that focus on government, the individual, and the marketplace. Candidates for Leadership Illinois must demonstrate leadership achievements in the private, public or volunteer sectors of their communities.

Iowa N.E.W. Leadership

Iowa NEW Leadership is an intensive six-day residential institute that develops college womens public leadership skills, supports their engagement in civic life, and creates opportunities for them to build relationships with women involved in public leadership on the local, state, and national levels. 

ICAN Women's Leadership Conference

The annual ICAN Women's Leadership conference is a one-day program that educates women about the important tools for leadership, inspires them to take on leadership roles, and provides a space for networking and connection with other women professionals. Beyond its keynote speakers, the conference offers break-out sessions that cover topics ranging from leadership styles and skills to goal-setting and taking advantage of social media. Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge

Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge is an annual traveling symposium designed to bring together women leaders from global corporations, small business, academia, government agencies and non-profit organizations. Through the course of the year, the group is exposed to critical issues confronting their communities, state and nation.  Each year, a limited number of outstanding women leaders are accepted into program membership.

Jordan-Huerta Women's Leadership Program

Named in honor of PeopleFor Co-Founder Barbara Jordan and longtime Board Member Dolores Huerta, the Jordan-Huerta YEO Women’s Leadership Program supports women identifying elected officials in the challenges of navigating public office, provides them with continued professional development, and elevates their voices and leadership within the national progressive movement, enabling them to seek higher office and pave the way for more women in political office across the country.

California Women Lead

California Women Lead is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to providing leadership and campaign trainings, networking opportunities, and policy discussion forums for women interested in or holding elected and appointed offices at the state or local level.
