16/50 Project
Women make up over 50% of the state’s general population, but a mere 16% of Michigan municipal managers are women. Through the 16/50 Project, the Michigan Municipal League is working to address these issues and move the needle upward on the number of women serving at the most executive level of government
Women Leading Local Government Sessions
Women Leading Local Government are interactive panel sessions hosted at universities throughout the state aimed at introducing students to municipal management as a career. Students meet the force of women leading local communities in Michigan, are presented with real-life municipal challenges to work through, and share dialogue with the panelists on the profession.

The Women’s Municipal Leadership Program is an opportunity for aspiring women to advance their skills and leadership abilities on the path to becoming strong local government managers.
