New Leaders Council Washington, DC

New Leaders Council (NLC) was formed in 2005 to train and support the next generation of progressive political entrepreneursyoung professionals in their twenties and thirties who are leading industries, setting trends, and building institutions that support robust civic and political life in a global America. NLC accomplishes this mission primarily through the NLC Institute - a political entrepreneurship training program held 10 days over a five-month period that builds local teams of young professionals in 19 cities across the nation.

Leadership Greater Washington

Established in 1986, Leadership Greater Washington unites regional leaders, organizations, and Chambers of Commerce to connect and prepare regional leaders to address regional challenges.  Approximately 55 applicants are selected in each program year to attend once-monthly sessions on regional issues including the arts, education, economic development, affordable housing, public safety, inclusiveness and equity, health, and leadership.  Participants also attend membership events and retreats.

Campaign Training Seminars

Campaigns & Elections magazine offers non-partisan campaign training seminars throughout the year for students and volunteer campaign operatives from all over the U.S. The trainings cover necessary campaign skills as well as contacts that often translate into business opportunities. Begun in 1983, these seminars provide a forum for campaign professionals to share their knowledge and experiences and for participants to engage in industry-wide networking. Most are held in Washington, DC.

Campaign Management Institute

The Campaign Management Institute (CMI) at American University trains individuals for participation in local, state and federal political campaigns.  Developed and taught by strategists from both parties, national campaign consultants and political scientists, this intensive two-week program provides a foundation for political activists and campaign managers.  Seminars and campaign simulations teach participants about the creation, development, and execution of a campaign plan.  Eligible participants are primarily American University students, but there are a limited number of seats availab

Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies

The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) is dedicated to ensuring the participation and success of Asian Pacific Americans in government at the national, state, and local levels. Founded in 1994, APAICS promotes, supports, and conducts non-partisan education and informational activities, research, and programs designed to effectively enhance and increase the participation of the Asian Pacific Islander American community in the democratic process. APIACS offers a leadership program for elected officials, internships, and 3 fellowship opportunities.
