Run for Something will recruit and support talented, passionate young people who will advocate for progressive values now and for the next 30 years, with the ultimate goal of building a progressive bench.

We’ll take a chance on people the usual “institutions” might never encounter. We’ll help people run for offices like state legislatures, mayorships, city council seats, and more. We’ll do whatever it takes to get more under-35 year-olds on the ballot.

Run Women Run was founded in 2008 as a nonprofit, non-partisan organization with a mission to inspire, recruit, train, mentor and support pro-choice women for elected and appointed office in San Diego County.  The group sponsors educational and networking seminars on women and politics, donates to pro-choice women candidates as a political action committee, and sponsors political boot camps in concert with local organizations to provide information on the facets of running for political office from campaign fundraising to honing your message.

Coro Center for Civic Leadership - Pittsburgh

Running for Public Office is an nonpartisan experiential learning program of the Coro Center for Civic Leadership in Pittsburgh. Twenty participants attend 42 hours of seminar, conducted in twelve consecutive Thursday evening sessions, that focus on strengthening citizen participation in public elections and increasing the diversity and level of preparation of candidates running for office in Greater Pittsburgh. The course is open to prospective candidates now contemplating running for office and their staffs.

Running Start

Running Start is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to educating and inspiring young women to participate in politics and run for office. The organization educates young women about the importance of politics in their lives and gives them the skills they need to become political leaders through a series of programs, including opportunities for experiential learning and access to political and leadership trainings. Programs target women from high school to their late twenties.

Running Start Congressional Fellowship

Throughout this semester-long program, Congressional Fellows learn about politics first-hand from Members of Congress, both in their home District Offices and on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Fellows grow their network of political insiders and understand what it takes to run, win and serve.

RunWOMENserve is a political action committee founded by former State Senator Diane Allen to elect principled women of both parties to the New Jersey Legislature. RunWOMENserve requires endorsees to put their constituents ahead of their party rely on a strong moral compass, and act with civility.

Rural Leadership North Dakota

Rural Leadership North Dakota (RLND) is a two-year interactive study and travel program dedicated to producing graduates with the vision and commitment to lead themselves, their organizations and communities into the future. This program emphasizes the development of skills such as working with people, managing projects, speaking in public, thinking creatively and understanding ag and rural policies. Participants attend eight in-state seminars, a Canada seminar and one national seminar in Washington DC over the two-year period.

Ruth's List

Ruth's List Florida is dedicated to building a progressive Florida by recruiting, supporting, and electing pro-choice, Democratic women to public office in Tallahassee, in county commissions, in city councils, and in other key positions around Florida. Ruth's List provides training, campaign assistance, early money, and a network of members giving their skills, time, and finances to help women win.

San Francisco Women's Political Committee

Established in 2002, the San Francisco Women's Political Committee (SFWPC) is a multi-party organization that works to engage women in all dimensions of the political process. SFWPC makes female and male candidate endorsements, initiative endorsements and presents the only woman's slate card in San Francisco. The committee advocates for policy improvements that support the empowerment of women, girls and community.

The Santa Barbara Women's Political Committee is dedicated to furthering gender equality and intersectional feminist values through political, social and educational activities.

Scottsdale Leadership

Founded in 1987, Scottsdale Leadership offers a core nine-month community leadership development program.  Forty participants are selected each year to learn about the issues facing Scottsdale, develop the leadership skills needed to make an impact, and build a network of resources to help them effect change.  Programs sessions occur one day every other week, ranging from education presentations and field trips to participation in class or community projects.

She Can Win is a non-partisan organization promoting women in civic leadership through comprehensive training, mentorship, and professional development. It is an organization of scholars, educators, journalists, business and professional leaders and elected officials, who provide thoughtful analysts of the current status and trend of women serving in politics. All are dedicated to the goal of deepening the intellectual foundation of members and those interested in our organization concerning women in politics. We will diligently work to inform, educate, mentor, train and cultivate women interested in government, political office and advocacy.

She Should Run is a non-partisan organization expanding the talent pool of future elected female leaders. She Should Run’s Ask a Woman to Run program provides a community that encourages women to run and then connects women with resources, people and organizations who can help start their path towards public service.

Named after Shirley Chisholm, who started her political career at the state level, Shirley's List supports Black women running for local and state offices in California.

Sisters Lead Sisters Vote

Sisters Lead Sisters Vote (SLSV) is currently conducting research to document the experience and needs of Black woman candidates and to document the historic leadership of Black women in the political space. Through this research, SLSV will document and share the unique needs of Black women candidates to better equip the organizations, parties and people, who seek to support them. This research will also aid Black women who are considering, planning, or running for office.
