The Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series

The Lugar Series

Founded in 1989, the Richard C. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series encourages, mentors and prepares selected Republican women leaders to seek new levels of involvement in government and politics.  Up to 20 Republican women are selected annually to participate in eight monthly day-long sessions covering issues in government, campaigns, and leadership development.  The series culminates with a four-day summit in Washington, D.C.  Series Fellows must demonstrate a commitment to seeking positions in government or the Republican Party within 5 years of completing the program.

The Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series

Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce

The Stanley K. Lacey Executive Leadership Series is an annual Indianapolis-based leadership program for young professionals seeking to learn about the issues facing the Indianapolis community from business and civic leaders.  Twenty-five selected applicants participate in once-monthly sessions covering topics like education, government, health and human services, the justice system, diversity, quality of life, and economic development.  Program graduates go on to lead in the community's public and private sectors.

Nebraska Chamber of Commerce

Created in 2005, Leadership Nebraska works to develop and motivate a cross-section of leaders who will use their talents and abilities to lead within the state of Nebraska.  Approximately 30 leaders are selected annually to participate in six, two-day educational sessions from February through September.  Each of the educational sessions is conducted in a different community and addresses key subjects and critical issues facing Nebraska

The Truman National Security Project is a national security leadership institute that recruits, trains, and positions a new generation of progressives across America to lead on national security. Through multiple training programs, the Project prepares progressive candidates to discuss national security issues. Truman National Security Bootcamps are one-day trainings tailored to state and local candidates, progressive activists, and progressive organizations' membership and leadership. Military 101 courses are 90 minute sessions are taught by progressive veterans that offer an introduction to the U.S. military's structure and culture for public leaders and citizens. The Truman National Security Project also provides fellowships, internships, and executive education programs.

Since 1985, the Center on Women and Public Policy (CWPP) has used gender analysis to challenge fundamental assumptions about politics, law, and economics on issues ranging from human rights to judicial selection and independence. In addition to conducting research on women and public policy, CWPP offers programs to develop women's leadership skills, political ambition, and political knowledge. In the past, CWPP has partnered with area organizations to offer campaign training programs for potential women candidates. CWPP programs are offered for young women, women legislators, and men and women interested in gender, politics, and policy issues.

National Organization for Women

Founded in 1966, the National Organization for Women (NOW) is the largest organization of feminist activists in the United States whose goal is to take action to bring about equality for all women. NOW is a multi-issue, multi-strategy organization that takes a holistic approach to women's rights. The organization's official priorities are winning economic equality and securing it with an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that will guarantee equal rights for women; championing abortion rights, reproductive freedom and other women's health issues; opposing racism and fighting bigotry against lesbians and gays; and ending violence against women. NOW has over 550 chapters in all 50 states that participate in education and advocacy activities. Information on state and local chapters of NOW is available on the national NOW website and through state chapters.
